John Silva

Organist

While John is primarily a pianist, he developed an enthusiasm for classical organ after hearing Jean Guillou playing music of J. S. Bach. He found Guillou’s eccentric registrations and interpretations to be stimulating and exciting.

John often plays music by Flor Peeters and J. S. Bach but he enjoys playing any high quality organ music. He has played at churches on both US coasts and has a particular interest in the technical side of pipe organs. He also enjoys playing on a 'pipe organ simulator'—the videos below were made using GrandOrgue and the Friesach sample set by Piotr Grabowski. He is also interested in the physical modelling of pipe organs and is a supporter of Modartt’s Organteq.

Ein Feste Burg, Flor Peeters

A creative, interesting, and colorful piece based on a popular hymn tune. This piece is from “Hymn Preludes for the Liturgical Year”, Volume VIII.

Toccata on Antioch, Craig Philips

A fantastic arrangement of “Joy To The World”. It is full of excitement with near constant meter changes. From the collection, “Three Preludes for Christmas”.
